The #80 Dare-backed ZB Commodore from Brad Jones Racing, driven by Brad Vaughan, made a triumphant return to the Dunlop Super2 Series in Sydney. This car was a rebuilt and refreshed chassis that had been heavily damaged in a massive 2022 Supercars accident at The Bend Motorsport Park. The accident involved BJR pilot André Heimgartner and Thomas Randle, where Randle's Castrol Tickford Mustang stalled on the line and was ploughed into by Heimgartner's #8 R&J Batteries Holden, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The BJR-built chassis was sidelined but was later rebuilt by the team, with team boss Brad Jones documenting the repairs on YouTube. The decision to put Vaughan in the refreshed chassis was influenced by Cody Gillis' accident at Turn 8 in Adelaide last year. Jones expressed his intention to complete the car and bring it back to competition. Vaughan, who finished fifth in the Dunlop Series last year, is now at the top of the 2026 table after the opening round, tied with Lochie Dalton from Blanchard Racing Team. The Dunlop Series takes a break until the second round at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin on June 19-21, where Vaughan and the team will aim to continue their winning streak.
